The Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), which measures the sustainability performance of the global real estate investment industry, is now open for responses. In 2012 the data gathered by GRESB covered more than 450 companies and funds. This information is used by some of the industry’s largest institutional investors, investment managers and property companies to analyze their sustainability practices. Nils Kok, GRESB founder and Executive Director, explains about the survey.

FSinsight is pleased to announce the call for papers for the 2012 Moskowitz Prize for Socially Responsible Investing (SRI). The $5,000 prize competition promotes the concept, practice, and growth of social and sustainable investing and is open to authors of relevant high quality studies from all business disciplines. The prize-winning study is selected by a panel of judges from academia and the investment industry and will be accepted for publication in the Journal of Investing.

On 1 Februari 2012, a group of over a 100 people of the European finance and investment community gathered in the Symphony Hall in Amsterdam for the official launch of knowledge portal FSinsight. They were welcomed by Sjoerd van Keulen, Chairman Holland Financial Centre (HFC), one of FSinsight’s initiating organizations. Keynote speakers Mark Lynas and Lloyd Kurtz offered provocative insights into the future of financing sustainability, then answered questions from the audience during a brief round-table facilitated by Piet Eichholtz. They were followed by Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation Maxime Verhagen, who declared the sustainable finance portal officially open.

FSinsight is proud to welcome a new member to the Editorial Board: Lloyd Kurtz. He is lecturer in social investing at the Center for Responsible Business at Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and program administrator for the prestigious Moskowitz Prize. He is also a lecturer in finance at Santa Clara University and is Chief Investment Officer at Nelson Capital Management. Lloyd is the initiator of sristudies.org, a highly informative online annotated bibliography of studies of socially responsible investing. At FSinsight he will be one of the key authors on Sustainable and Responsible Investments, with a focus on socially responsible investing.
